Metalibrary

Metalibrary

To quote Richard J. Sutcliffe, who coined the term:

"An (abstract) metalibrary is the entire collection of a society's data, information, and techniques, together with the means by which it is stored, accessed, and communicated" (http://arjay.bc.ca/metalibrary/index.htm).

More information about this topic can be found in Sutcliffe's book The Fourth Civilization.
