Moriss Taylor is one of the most recognizable faces in northern California television and an unmistakable voice on the radio.Fact|date=March 2008 Born in
Miami, Oklahoma in 1924, Moriss grew up listening to singing cowboys such asRoy Rogers , theSons of the Pioneers andGene Autry and brought his singing talent west toChico, California , where he would begin his broadcasting career at local country music radio station KHSL-AM 1290. He hosted his own morning show as well as a weekend music-variety show called "The Moriss Taylor Show ".The show would move to television in 1956 at three-year-old
KHSL-TV Channel 12 and would be broadcast weekly for nearly 40 years before the station's new owners dropped it. It now airs in rerun every Saturday morning at 10:00am onKRVU-TV My 21 in Chico and Sundays at 9:30am onKFBI-TV My 48 inMedford, Oregon .He continues to host the Moriss Taylor radio show Sunday mornings and evenings on
KHSL-FM 103.5, known as "The Blaze" and serves as account executive for KHSL Radio's owner Deer Creek Broadcasting. His broadcasting career spans over six decades and he has no plans on slowing down.Moriss released several CDs starting in 2004. He's one of the most popular recording artists overseas. His show's closing theme "High Sierra", which he wrote, was dedicated to his love for the Sierras and has been a song most closely associated with him over the years.
Moriss was grand marshall of the 2007 Pioneer Day Parade.
