17 wounded|On 12 October 1800, off Guadeloupe, during naval hostilities with France, the USS|Boston|1799|6 (36 guns), Capt. George Little, captured the French corvette "Le Berceau" after a twelve-hour chase and a stubborn engagement extending intermittently from 4:30 till after 10 P.M. Though almost completely dismantled, the "Berceau" was towed into Boston as a prize.
