Ralph Treuel

Ralph Treuel is a coach for the Boston Red Sox organization.

Treuel, who enters his 32nd year in pro baseball, started his ninth season with the Red Sox and in 2006 began his second stint as the club’s minor league pitching coordinator after holding that position from 1999-2001. He also managed the rookie-level Gulf Coast Red Sox for the last three seasons.

Previously, Treuel was Sparky Anderson's pitching coach in Detroit in 1995 and was Boston pitching coach in 2002, but was dismissed in favor of Tony Cloninger when Grady Little replaced Joe Kerrigan as manager. Cloninger was replaced by Dave Wallace after being diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2004.

In March 2006, Red Sox bullpen coach Al Nipper was named interim pitching coach with Wallace sidelined indefinitely after having surgery. Treuel then was named interim bullpen coach.

Ralph Treuel, a native of Elyria Ohio was inducted into the Elyria Sports Hall of Fame in 1990.
