Pau Claris i Casademunt (1586–1641, Barcelona) was an ecclesiastic and canonist from Catalonia. He became canon in La Seu d'Urgell in 1612 and well-known because of his defence of the ecclesiastical privileges against the king's. He was active in Barcelona's courts around 1626, where he joined Enric d'Alemany (from Vic) against the King's demand of 16000 soldiers for the war.In 1627, he became elected representative of his group in the courts (1632), where he defended the economical rights of the Church against the King's intention of collecting taxes from clergymen.In July of 1638, amid growing unrest in the political situation, he was elected President of the Generalitat for the period 1638–1641.

On january 16, 1641, proclaimed the Catalan Republic under the protection of France.
