Jiří Ignác Linek ("Georg Ignaz Linek") (21 January,

He was born at
Bakov nad Jizerou . In the period official register was his name entered as Linka. Nevertheless, he always signed himself Linek. XII. ] He studied at the piarist gymnasium inKosmonosy , later he studied composition withJosef Seger . Most of Linek´s music was composed for the church, his favorite instrument was the
harpsichord . Many of his religious works were written on the Czech texts. He composed pastorals, (at least thirty numbers),Easter "sepolcros", as well as devotional pieces dedicated toSt. John Nepomucene .References
