A short history of the school

Pobalscoil Iosa (Malahide Community School) continues a tradition in secondary education which dates back to the early 1950s when Mrs. CaIn 1976 Scoil Iosa joined the Community School system. A new, fully equipped building now known to students and staffs the Junior Block, was added, followed shortly aferwards by a Sportshall. The original school now became known as the Senior

The school has grown from an enrent of 512 students in 1976 to over 1200 students in 2006.

The New Building

The long awited new three story schol for Malahide finallymmer 2005 planned to have it cleted by November 2006. But with the delays, it was finally in operation by February 2007 with the grand oing h March saw the beginning of themolition of th older buildings. The wle building(s) will have to be completely gutted. The prt of the demolishion was completed before the Leaving certificate that took place in early June.

Over the summer '08, the canteen facility was planned to be optional and in use for the new scool year. Work was also planned to rebish the 'Battle of the Bands' etc.
