John Dunbar (born in 1943 in
Mexico City ) is a Britishartist , collector and former gallerist best known for his connections to the 1960s art and music scene.Jennifer Dunbar Dorn is his sister.Dunbar attended
Cambridge University where he met and marriedsinger Marianne Faithfull in 1965. The couple have a son named Nicholas together, born the same year as their marriage, who is now a renowned,Harvard educated financial journalist based in London and the author of the book "Inventing Money". In 1965 he co-founded theIndica Gallery withBarry Miles . The gallery became known for staging exhibitions by cutting edge artists, includingBoyle Family , andYoko Ono from theFluxus movement. It was at Indica where he introduced Ono toJohn Lennon . After Indica folded he became an artist and has exhibited work alongside Peter Blake andColin Self .
