The Museum of Lake Minnetonka (MLM) is an organization that was split from the Minnesota Transportation Museum (MTM) in 2004–2005 to operate the steamboat Minnehaha that was part of a small fleet made by the Twin City Rapid Transit Company (TCRT) in 1906. The vessel operated on Lake Minnetonka, one of the main resort locations in the vicinity of Minneapolis-Saint Paul, before business declined and the boat was scuttled in 1926. Another boat of the same type, the Hopkins operated on the lake until 1948.
The Minnehaha was later located by divers and brought to the surface in 1980. It was restored by MTM in the 1990s and returned to the lake in 1996. It now operates during the summer between the cities of Wayzata and Excelsior, Minnesota.
The ticket office for the steamboat in Excelsior, Minnesota has some exhibits, and the Great Northern Depot in Wayzata is near one dock used by the Minnehaha. Another operation split from MTM, the Minnesota Streetcar Museum, also operates streetcars on a line in Excelsior.
