Scholes is a
Pennine hilltop village, situated 1 mile (2 km) to the southeast and aboveHolmfirth , 7 miles (11 km) southwest ofHuddersfield , in theHolme Valley ofWest Yorkshire ,England . It had a population of 1,925 in the 2001 census. The name "Scholes" may have originated from theScandinavia n language meaning 'the temporary huts or sheds'.The village contains one non denominational
