Tobias Jones is a British author and journalist. Educated at
Jesus College, Oxford he worked at the "London Review of Books " and the "Independent on Sunday ". He moved toParma in Italy in 1999. He is best known for the book he wrote about Italy, "The Dark Heart of Italy ". He now lives in Bristol with Italian wife and two young daughters. In September 2006 he captained England in the writers' world cup.In January 2007 he published his second book "
Utopian Dreams " (Faber & Faber) after a whole year spent travelling with his wife Francesca and first daughter Benny across five communities in Britain and Italy. The book was featured on BBC Radio 4's "Start the Week " as well as being book of the week on that network.In January 2008, following rumors of French President Sarkozy's alleged honeymoon trip to Verona, Italy, Tobias Jones was commissioned by the Daily Mail to write a defamatory article against the city of Verona. On the 18/01/2008, the Daily Mail published "How Romeo and Juliet killed Verona, "the city of love", creating anger and controversy. Having refused to write the 1,200 words on the "Death of Verona" requested by the Daily Mail, Tim Parks, English-born writer based in Verona, has been awarded honorary citizenship by Verona's major, Flavio Tosi.
