Spanning two miles (3 km) in the city of High Point as Fairfield Road, NC 610 connects U.S. Highway 311 at its west terminus to NC 62 at its east terminus. The route is one of the shortest in the state and was created in 1930 as a spur of NC 62, which was then signed as NC 61. The route provides a shortcut between U.S. Highway 311 and Interstate 85 (exit 113).
