The Wilderness Charter School is a part of the Ashland School District in Ashland, Oregon, United States. It is an alternative high school program that serves juniors and seniors.
tatement of philosophy
Students who are heard and understood by their peers and teachers excel individually while also learning how they affect and fit into a small democratic community. To this end, students in The Wilderness Charter School spend time in community meetings discussing curriculum, group dynamics, personal dilemmas, etc. When students help create and govern their school experience, they take deeper pride and have a higher investment in the success of their education.
Mission statement
The mission of the Wilderness Charter School is to study and practice community, self-reliance, and ecological connection with the intention of creating a sustainable future.
History
WCS opened in 1997.

Facilities
1800 sq ft. straw-bale building located just below the Ashland High School campus, on one acre with garden, a rainwater catchment pond, a wetlands area, a small diameter pole and paper crete shed, a cob oven and bench, a living roof, solar panels and a small Forest garden.
