- Alan Goodrick (Gimpo)
Alan Goodrick is usually known by his
nom de guerre Gimpo. He is most well known as a friend and collaborator ofThe KLF and theK Foundation . He filmed (and owns the print of), the "Watch the K Foundation Burn a Million Quid " film, droveBill Drummond andMark Manning to the top of the world (as recounted in "Bad Wisdom "), and was the ski-masked person fumbling with lighter fluid and matches whenRachel Whiteread came to claim theK Foundation art award . He is currently an underground/alternative arts film maker and is frequently involved with both Drummond andJimmy Cauty 's current projects.Although he has claimed that he has given up the role, he is often described as a
roadie . At the 1996BRIT Awards he touched the soul ofMichael Jackson [http://www.libraryofmu.org/display-resource.php?id=432] .He also organises an annual 25-hour drive around the M25 called the M25 spin, repeated every year on the weekend closest to March 23rd (with many KLF fans from around the world joining in). The first time this took place was in 1997 when he was accompanied by Bill Drummond and artist Dave Green, and has produced a film of this event. According to "Bad Wisdom", he was born and raised in
Manchester (although there are rumours that Gimpo himself says he's from Mold inWales ), and is a 'brother-in-law' toMark Manning . Gimpo was a squaddie and served with theBritish Army in theFalklands War . After that war he met up with Zodiac and started to work part-time his band "The Love Reaction". After a period as a roadie for variousFood Records bands (eg.Jesus Jones ) he set up Pit Bull management and began to manage the Love Reaction.
