Snowman are an indie rock band from Perth, Western Australia.

History

Snowman began playing regularly around Perth's local music scene in 2003 and have gained a solid live reputation in the following years.

Their sound has been described as post punk experimentalism with elements of rockabilly, surf rock and punk bluesFact|date=February 2007. Their recordings add odd atmospherics usually described with references to western soundtracksFact|date=February 2007.

Snowman have performed numerous local supports in Perth for touring acts such as Mclusky, Spoon, the Stranglers, Sons and Daughters and Wolfmother. 2005 & 2006 saw them perform high profile national tours in support of Interpol, Regurgitator, Wolf & Cub and Mint Chicks, and Liars.

In 2005 the band were nominated for six WAMi Awards: 'Most Popular Act', 'Most Popular Single / EP', 'Most Popular Live Act', 'Favourite Newcomer', and 'Most Promising New Act & Best Punk Act', winning the 'Favourite Newcomer' award. In 2006 the band were again nominated for a couple of WAMi Awards: 'Most Popular Live Act' and 'Best Male Vocalist', with Andy Citawarman getting the 'Best Male Vocalist Award'. 2006 also saw them sign a deal to Melbourne based indie label Dot Dash, and record an album with Perth producer David Parkin at Blackbird Studio.
