Toby Foster (born 1969) is a
comedian ,actor andradio presenter , who claims to be fromBarnsley South Yorkshire ,England though he was actually born inRotherham .Fact|date=July 2008He went to the
Barnburgh Junior School, followed byLacewood Primary School , Dearneside Comprehensive and Wath Comprehensive in Rotherham.Foster is an acclaimed stand up comedian, who promotes and comperes at Sheffield's Last Laugh comedy club, and was a founder member of the
M.E.N.@Work team at Manchester's Comedy Store. He is also the host ofBBC Radio Sheffield 's breakfast programme, from 7-9am each weekday. He was host of a popular weekday mid-morning show from 8.30-11am until March 2007, for which he was nominated for the EntertainmentSony Radio Academy Award in 2004. He started on the afternoon show from 2-5pm, taking over fromTony Capstick on April 2 2002. He then worked with Antonia Brickell on a joint breakfast show in September 2004.He has been off the comedy circuit for nearly two years to concentrate on the opening of his latest Last Laugh Comedy Club, formerly at The Roundhouse in
Sheffield , now held at the Memorial Hall. He also runs The Last Laugh atThe Lescar ,Yorkshire 's longest running comedy club. His company also runs comedy clubs at both theUniversity of Sheffield andSheffield Hallam University . He recently ended a 6 year relationship withThe Lamproom Theatre in Barnsley, and now hosts a show called "Toby Foster and Friends" at thePenistone Paramount .He is perhaps better known to a wider audience as Les in
Peter Kay 's sitcomPhoenix Nights , which he starred in from 2000-2002. He has also appeared inThat Peter Kay Thing andMax and Paddy's Road To Nowhere .He is affectionately referred to as "One-Take" Foster by friend and co-star Peter Kay, because of his belief that he never gets his lines wrong [ Peter Kay - Phoenix Nights Series 2 DVD Commentary ] .
Foster also played a character in the Christmas Special of Extras, credited as "Northern Comic", and featured in the mock Celebrity Big Brother show.
He is currently working on the British comedy film "Snappers" which is being shot on location in Torbay. The film is scheduled for an October release and also stars
