Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes is a multi-use stadium in Granada, Spain. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 16,212 people. The stadium was built in 1995 to be the home ground of Granada CF, the main football club of the city. Since 2005 Granada CF shares the stadium with Granada At, another city football club.

History

It was opened on 16 May 1995. The first football match was played on 6 June 1995 between Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen. Real Madrid won the match with a final score of 1:0. The goal, the first goal in the stadium, was realized by Petr Dubosky.

The first official match was Spain vs Armenia, corresponding to under-21 category. The final result was 4:0, with goals scored by Óscar, Roberto, Morales and Raúl.

Location

This stadium is located at Zaidín, a suburb at south of the city of Granada. It's very well communicated with "Circunvalación" highway and with "Camino de Ronda", one of the more important streets of the city. It was constructed by the side of Palacio de Deportes de Granada.
