Paristan

Paristan

Paristan or Pari-estan ( _fa. پریستان) is a name of a "fairyland" in the folklore of Middle East, South Asia and Central Asia. Pari ( _fa. پری) means fairy. In many children's stories "Koh-e-Qaf" ( _fa. کوہ قاف) is also used for "fairyland". The "Koh-e-Qaf" refers to the Cau-cas mountains.

Most of the fairies are depicted as young females with very fair color, golden hair and light colored eyes. This indicates that fair-haired European Slavic girls from the north of Caucasus Mountains were considered as a model for Peri.
