CAPO - Capital Arts Patrons Organization

CAPO (Capital Arts Patrons Organisation) is a unique non-profit, non-political, private fund raising body, based in Canberra, Australia. It is dedicated to raising money for distribution to Canberra's arts community in the form of Fellowships and Grants.

CAPO commenced operations in 1983 and since this time the organisation has raised over $1,500,000 for this purpose.

CAPO's two main forms of fund-raising are via a major Auction held each year and also through their cash sponsorship program.

The first board was set up in 1982 based on a model from the American arts fund-raising organisation PONCHO, who are based in Seattle.

2006 is CAPO's 23rd year and the organisation is now well established within the Australian business and arts community as a premier fundraising organisation and the only one for the arts which is privately funded.
