Ron Schipper (
August 7 1928 -March 27 2006 ), nicknamed "Skip", was an Americancollege football coach atCentral College inPella, Iowa from 1961 to 1996.Schipper was born in
Zeeland, Michigan . During his tenure at Central College, he never failed to have a winning season, and retired with an .808 career winning percentage - then the fourth highest inDivision III history. His teams won 18 Iowa Conference championships, enjoyed ten undefeated seasons, and won the 1974 Division III national championship; they were national runners-up in 1984 and 1988.His 287 career wins rank second in Division III history, and eighth among coaches in all divisions. He also served as the school's athletic director from 1964 to 1993. He was inducted into the
College Football Hall of Fame in 2000 and received theAmos Alonzo Stagg Award , presented by theAmerican Football Coaches Association , in 2004.He died in
Holland, Michigan at age 77.ee also
