Roger Barrett Patman

Roger Barrett Patman

Roger Barrett Patman is a character in the Sweet Valley High Book series.

Character

Roger was the result of an affair between Linda Barrett, an employee at Patman Canning, and Paul Patman, a member of a prominent Sweet Valley family. When Paul was killed in a plane crash, Linda raised Roger with her married name. Roger was unaware of this for the first sixteen years of his life.

He appeared early in the series (SVH#9, "Racing Hearts") as a boy with a hopeless crush on Lila Fowler. Lila thought very little of him, especially when she discovered he was poor and worked as a janitor. He later began a relationship with Olivia Davidson. When his mother died of a heart attack, he learned the truth of his paternity, (SVH#16, "Rags to Riches") and moved in with Paul's brother, Henry Wilson Patman. Henry took to him almost immediately. Bruce Patman and his mother Marie didn't like Roger initially but came to tolerate him. Bruce became somewhat protective of him. Roger's attitude didn't change, just because he became one of the richest kids in Sweet Valley.

Roger and Olivia's relationship survived an attempt by Jessica to split them up, but later fizzled into a close friendship.
