- Georges (novel)
"Georges" is a short
novel byAlexandre Dumas, père set on the island ofMauritius , from1810 to1824 . This novel is of particular interest because Dumas reused many of the ideas and plot devices later in "The Count of Monte Cristo ", and because race and racism are at the center of this novel, and this was a topic on which Dumas, despite his part-African ancestry, rarely wrote.cite web | title=The Alexandre Dumas père Web Site | work=Georges | url=http://cadytech.com/dumas/work.php?key=153 | accessdate=2006-04-06] "Georges" was first published in1843 .cite book | last=Reed | first=Frank Wild | authorlink= | coauthors= | editor= | others= | title=A Bibliography of Alexandre Dumas père | origdate= | origyear=1933 | origmonth= | url= | format= | accessdate= | accessyear= | accessmonth= | edition= | date= | year= | month= | publisher=J.
