Halys may refer to:

* The Halys River (Western cultures and languages from the Greek) in Anatolia (Asia Minor), Turkish Kızılırmak ("Red River")— [http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=41.72,35.95&spn=0.8,0.8&t=h Zoomable Map centered at Mouth/Delta locus at 41.72° N 35.95° E] .

* The Battle of Halys (also very recently sometimes called the "Battle of the Eclipse") which is the first battle in antiquity "that is 'datable' with any certainty" and took place on May 28 585 BC, between the Medes and the Lydians along the Halys River and it's valley (present-day "Kızılırmak" river in Turkey— [http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=41.72,35.95&spn=0.3,0.3&t=h (Zoomable Map centered at Mouth locus at 41.72° N 35.95° E )] .

* In the "Aeneid", Halys is a Trojan who defends Aeneas' camp from a Rutulian attack. He was killed by Turnus.

* A generic name proposed by Gray (1849) for a group of venomous pit vipers found in Asia. It is currently a synonym for the genus "Gloydius".
