MS Sovereign of the Seas

MS "Sovereign of the Seas" is one of three large cruise ships of the "Sovereign" class operated by Royal Caribbean International. At the time of her maiden voyage on January 16, 1988, she was the largest cruise ship in the world at 73,192 gross tons. She was initially based at the Port of Miami. Her godmother is Rosalyn Carter.

In 2006 "Sovereign of the Seas" sailed three- and four-night cruises to the Bahamas out of Port Canaveral, Florida. These cruises visit CocoCay, one of RCI's privately-owned islands, in the Berry Islands group. She was last refurbished in 2005.

Like other RCI ships of similar size, the "Sovereign of the Seas" has a multi-deck atrium lobby called the Centrum, and a top-deck, funnel-mounted Viking Crown Lounge with panoramic views of the sea. She will be transferred to the fleet of RCI's subsidiary Pullmantur Cruises in late 2008.
