- Giosafat Barbaro
Giosafat Barbaro (or Josaphat) (1413-1494) was a Venetian diplomat, merchant and explorer.
Barbaro was first Venetian consul to
Azov , and subsequently commander ofAlbania . OnSeptember 27 ,1472 , Barbaro was appointed ambassador by the Venetian senate toUzun Hassan atTabriz , to which mission he departed onFebruary 18 ,1473 ["Mehmed the Conqueror & His Time", pg 319, Franz Babinger, Trans.
