binomial_authority = Hutton, 1879The yellow weaver, "Parapercis gilliesii", is a sandperch of the genus Parapercis found only around New Zealand, at depths of 100 to 200 metres on the continental shelf. Its length is 15 to 30 cm.

The yellow weaver is similar in shape to the blue cod but has much larger eyes and is generally smaller. Its colour varies from cream to yellow with a variable pattern of dark grey stripes and splotches. It is sometimes trawled on the continental shelf but is not a common fish.
