This is a list of members of the South Australian Legislative Council, as of the 2006 state election:
:1 ALP MLC Terry Roberts died on February 18, 2006, only weeks before the 2006 election. The vacancy remained unfilled at the conclusion of the last parliament, and as he was only half-way through his term, his replacement still had four years to serve. Bernard Finnigan was thus appointed as his replacement on May 2.:2 Liberal MLC Angus Redford resigned from the Legislative Council in March 2006 in an unsuccessful attempt to shift to the House of Assembly. The vacancy remained unfilled at the conclusion of the last parliament, and as he was only half-way through his term, his replacement still had four years to serve. Stephen Wade was thus appointed as his replacement on May 2.:3 Independent MLC Nick Xenophon resigned on October 15, 2007 in order to run for the Australian Senate at the 2007 federal election. Xenophon's second running mate, John Darley was appointed to the casual vacancy on November 21.:4 Family First MLC Andrew Evans resigned on July 3, 2008. Robert Brokenshire, a former Liberal MHA, was appointed as Evans' replacement on July 24.
