Bernard Makuza (born 1961) is the current Prime Minister of Rwanda. He has been Prime Minister since 8 March 2000. An ethnic Hutu, Makuza was a member of the Democratic Republican Movement (MDR) before allegations were made that the party promoted genocide. He remained at the head of a new government named on March 8 2008, which was composed of 21 ministers and six secretaries of state.
