footnotes =Huddur is the capital city ofBakool ,Somalia . It is located in the south-west of Somalia, around coord|4|7|12|N|43|53|16|E |region:SO_type:city. The population belong predominantly to theHadama ethnic group and are religiously. The main language spoken in Huddur isAf Maay . In the mid-1980s it became the firstcapital city of and it has been astrategic place for theSomali Air Force. Since 1991 when Mohammed Siad Barre's regime was overthrown, the city has remained relatively calm with the exception of few conflicts taking place. The economy of Huddur is largely based onLand and Livestock Farming . In the summer people in Huddur enjoy some of theirunique fruits and vegetables, which include 'Dhanfaruur', 'Qareeb', 'Hobbisho', 'Jannaw' and many many more.People originally from
Huddur are easy to recognise apart from their language.A person with partly red teeth may easily be hudurian, (reer xuddur)Thecity is famous of its salty water. With the help of ADVENTIST DEVELOPEMENT RELIEF AGENCY (ADRA ) people can now drink clean and safe water from the wells, although the city still has only two majurelakes that provides unsalty water, (warguduudey andwarcadey ).Eid days the nomadic people gather in the (buulow)village and perform(saar)local dance. Jul 26, 2005 Toronto's Globe and Mail profiled the HIV/AIDS Awareness and Development Organization, a Xuddur, Somalia-based group that formed last year to promote abstinence and fidelity and encourage HIV testing. Many people in Somalia believe that HIV/AIDS is not a problem in the country, where isolation caused by 14 years of civil war has kept theHIV prevalence at about 1.5% or 2%, which is one of thelowest rates in Africa . However, epidemiologists warn that a 1% prevalence rate indicates an "impending explosion," especially in a country where migration, conflict , femalecircumcision , and a lack of condom use and education increase the risk ofHIV transmission . The country also lacks a health ministry, and media, school andcivil society networks to provideHIV/AIDS prevention and education. As a result, HAADO is able to access the small amounts of available HIV/AIDS funding in the country. In Xuddur, MSF provides vital services that would otherwise be out of reach for the 200,000 impoverished inhabitants of the Bakool region. But providing health care in Somalia is not limited to administering treatment. The need to understand the Somali culture is vital, all the more important as the vacuum left by the lack of a recognised and functioning national administration is filled by traditional and religious systems. Therefore, the MSF team also reaches out to community and religious leaders, as well as reinforcing the training of increasingly skilled local staff.
