William Savile, 2nd Marquess of Halifax

Son of George Savile, 1st Viscount Halifax and Dorothy Savile, Viscountess Halifax he was born in 1665 and died 31st August 1700.

He was a Member of Parliament for Newark-on-Trent from 1689 to 1695.

He was married once. On 24 November 1687 to Elizabeth Grimston the daughter of Sir Samuel Grimston, but was lover to Mary Finch the daughter of Daniel Finch ( 2nd Earl of Nottingham and 7th Earl of Winchilsea) and Essex Rich.

He had two daughters: by his wife - Lady Anne Savile born 1691 died 18th July 1717; by his lover - Dorothy Savile Born 1699 died 1758.

As he died without male issue the title became extinct.
