Sven Hagströmer (born 1943) is a Swedish businessman. Together with his business partner
Mats Qviberg , he controls a group of companies includingHagströmer & Qviberg andInvestment AB Öresund .Education and Early Career
Hagströmer went to
Stockholm University but did not graduate. His first job was with a minor finance company, before joining giantsInvestor AB in 1973. He stayed there until 1981 , when he founded his own finance company.Hagströmer & Qviberg
During the 1980s, he met Mats Qviberg, who at that time was a
stockbroker atCarnegie Investment Bank . In 1990 , Qviberg joined Hagströmer's company as a partner and it was renamed "Hagströmer & Qviberg". Through the acquisition of Öresund in 1993 , the pair built up an empire. Today, Hagströmer is the Chairman of Öresund, while Qviberg isChief Executive Officer .The two are known to be good friends and very close business partners, even sharing a desk in their head office.
Political Views
Like his partner Qviberg, Hagströmer has been politically outspoken. He is a known
Eurosceptic . In the referendum on the Euro in 2003, he actively supported the no side. At first Qviberg took the opposite view, but later changed his mind. Hagströmer served on the board of the EuroscepticJune List which received 15% of the Swedish votes in the election to the European Parliament in 2004. He left the board in autumn of 2006.
