Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995
- Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995
The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995 is a Statutory Instrument which sets out what is Permitted Development. ie what can be built without obtaining planning permission. It was made under powers granted by the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and the Coal Industry Act 1994 and came into force on 3 June 1995.
The Order sets out 84 separate classes of development for which a grant of planning permission is automatically given. The 84 classes are spread across 33 parts as set out in Schedule 2 to the Order.
It should be noted that whilst this list is an accurate representation of the headings contained in the 1995 document, (a) many amendations have been made since, and (b) the document also describes general exceptions to the conditions.
