- Honey Nut Clusters
Honey Nut Clusters aka CLUSTERS is a
breakfast cereal manufactured byGeneral Mills , which refers to the cereal as a "low fat part of your heart healthy diet". A single serving (1 cup) contains 220 calories and 2.5 grams of fat. The cereal, also known simply as "Clusters", first appeared in 1987.The cereal gained popularity for the commercials often depicting
squirrel s stealing the cereal by outsmarting the owners. Among the most popular was Robo-Squirrel, in which a cyborg squirrel does serious damage to steal the cereal. The recipe for this cereal was changed in April 2007, so that it no longer actually includes nuts. The picture on the box however, still clearly depicts the same almond clusters it always has, and the name still includes the word nut. Instead of nuts, General Mills has begun using the presumably cheaper, and arguably not-as-tasty "nut-flavored oat clusters". General Mills will happily issue a refund for the purchase price if a consumer calls the number on the side of the box and reports that they were duped by the fraudulent depiction of the product on the box.It could also be presumed the recipe change was due to peoples ever-expanding nut allergies.
