UIEvolution is a software company based in Bellevue, Washington. It was founded by Satoshi Nakajima in August 2000, after thirteen and half years of his work at Microsoft where he had been a software architect for Windows 95/98 and Internet Explorer 3.0/4.0. From March 2004 to December 2007 UIEvolution was a wholly owned subsidiary of Square Enix for the acquisition price of $58 million.

Before joining Microsoft, where the UIEvolution founder Satoshi Nakajima had been one of the top authors of new patents, he worked and studied in Japan. He was a researcher at NTT Labs, and worked at Microsoft's Japanese subsidiary. He holds an electrical engineering degree from Waseda University in Tokyo. When Brad Silverberg and a few other executives from Microsoft, together with a couple people from AT&T Wireless, founded Ignition (venture capital company), Satoshi Nakajima joined Ignition as a partner but with the full intention of starting a company from there. After about eight months in Ignition, he used its fundings to form UIEvolution.

UIEvolution has created a technology solution which it has used to produce pervasive, cross-platform software for a variety of devices including mobile phones, set-top/cable boxes, personal media devices, and others. The software is based on a platform-independent middleware that allows UIEvolution to port its application from one platform to another.

Some of the applications developed by UIEvolution include:
* ESPN Mobile (also known as ESPN MVP) MVNO Sports experience, later released on Verizon for their V-Cast service
* MySpace Mobile
* IMDb Mobile Movie Guide
* E! True Hollywood Trivia
* ESPN Bottomline mobile application
* The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe mobile game
* Trivial Pursuit mobile game
* Movies.com Mobile
* GoComics GoComics Reader

For six years, UIEvolution has developed and deployed mobile data applications and content for popular consumer brands, including Disney, ESPN, and MySpace. Their cross-platform technology enables content and service providers to create dynamic user experiences for subscribers worldwide on many devices and networks. UIEvolution has a rich content management application, with customer portals, and MVNO solutions. Service providers such as Mobile ESPN, KDDI, and OnDemand TV use UIEvolution.

On December 17, 2007, Square Enix Inc. announced (press release: [http://www.square-enix.com/jp/company/e/news/2007/download/20071217en_25.pdf] )that it had transferred all shares of UIEvolution stock to a Seattle, Washington-based third party, thus divesting themselves completely of UIEvolution. The name of the new shareholder has not yet been publicly announced.
