Sergey Nikolayevich Volkov

Sergey Nikolayevich Volkov ( _ru. Серге́й Никола́евич Во́лков) (b. April 19, 1949 in Moscow, Soviet Union; d. August 31, 1990 in Kharkiv) was a Soviet figure skater and an Honored Sports Master who he debuted in 1968 European Championship and won the 12th place.

Sergey Volkov participated in eight European and four Worlds Championships. His coaches were Viktor Kudriavtsev (1959–1975) and Stanislav Zhuk (in 1976–1978). Volkov was unbeatable master of special and compulsory figures. In 1976 he was the Champion of the USSR in figure skating. In 1974, Volkov won a Silver medal in the European and World Figure Skating Championships, and in 1975, Volkov won the World Championship. He was the first Soviet World Champion in men's figure skating competitions. After he finished his own career in figure skating Volkov worked as a coach. He died from cancer in 1990.
