Shweta Shetty

Shweta Shetty, born in 1969 in Mumbai, is an Indi-pop singing star known both for her full-length albums and contributions to Bollywood film soundtracks. She currently lives in Hamburg with her husband Christian Brandt.

Shetty was discovered at age 17, starting her career by taking modeling jobs and singing commercial jingles. Her father was not pleased with this career path and did not speak to her for years until after she married Brandt in 1997.

Her first album, "Johnny Joker", ushered in her first widespread acclaim. Soon Shetty became known as a star in the Indian pop scene, performing songs for films and appearing on television programs such as MTV India. Adding to this success, her first two albums sold 1.5 million copiesFact|date=July 2008.

Shetty has performed with several other artists including Sarah Brightman and Jam & Spoon.
