German submarine U-883

German submarine U-883

"U-883" was a German Type IXD/42 submarine of the Kriegsmarine in World War II.

Designed in 1942, "U-883" was the only commissioned IXD/42, similar to the IXD, but with increased engine power (increased from 4400 to 5400 ehp).

Commissioned in March 1945, only weeks before the German surrender, "U-883" was sunk in Operation Deadlight.
