Villanders ( _it. Villandro) is a village and "comune" in the province of Bolzano-Bozen, in the Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol region of northern Italy.

Geography

Villanders lies on the "Villanderer Berg" (Mountain of Villanders), at the top of which lies the "Totensee" (Sea of death).clarifyme The village is bordered by Barbiano, Chiusa, Laion, Renon and Sarentino.

Demographics

More than 98% of the population speaks German as a first language, 1.4% Italian and 0.3 % Ladin.

Recently Villanders has become more attractive for tourists. The "Gasser Hütte", "Meir im Plun" and the "Rinderplatz" (cow square) are farmed mountain pastures where tourists can eat and drink. The Totensee and the "Totenkirchlein" (church of death) are also tourist attractions.
