John Alden Dix (December 25, 1860 - April 9, 1928) was Governor of New York from January 1911 to December 1912.

Dix was born in Glens Falls, Warren County, N.Y., and attended Cornell University, but never graduated. He was an initiated member of the Beta Charge of the Theta Delta Chi fraternity.

He died in New York City and was interred at Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands, N.Y.

He is not to be confused with John Adams Dix, Civil War General and New York Governor in the late 19th Century.

Dix was also to set sail as a passenger aboard the RMS Titanic on April 20, 1912 upon its arrival in New York for its return voyage to Europe. [New York Times, April 10, 1912 page 20] The trip never took place due to the Titanic sinking on her maiden voyage.
