Eel River Brewing Company

Eel River Brewing Company

Eel River Brewing Company is a microbrewery in the town of Fortuna in Humboldt County Northern California. This brewery is built in the historic site of the Clay Brown Redwood Mill. The brewpub was established in 1994. Margaret and Ted Vivatson own and operate the company. The company is notable for its ethical business practices: the site hosts a convert|30|ft|m|sing=on long bar made entirely from recovered historic Redwood and Douglas Fir; the brewery offers beef raised and slaughtered by the Vivatsons; and since 1999, when they released their Organic Amber Ale, it has been the first Certified Organic Brewery in the United States. The establishment, with its 100+ seating, also offers the largest beer garden on California's North Coast.
