conurbation based around the city ofLeicester inLeicestershire ,England . While it has no formal definition as an administrative area, theOffice for National Statistics does define a Leicester Urban Area with a population of 441,213 at the time of the 2001 census.As defined by the Office of National Statistics, the Leicester Urban Area comprises Leicester itself and the surrounding towns and villages of

*Wigston The urban area is, by the ONS figures, the eleventh largest in England, between the Portsmouth Urban Area and the Bournemouth Urban Area.
