GrendelMatt Wagner (born October 9, 1961) is an American comic book writer and artist, best known as the creator of the series Mage and Grendel.

Wagner was born in Pennsylvania.[citation needed]
Career
In addition to his creator-owned series' Mage and Grendel, he has also worked on comics featuring The Demon and Batman as well as such titles as Sandman Mystery Theatre and Trinity, a DC Comics limited series featuring Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.
Recent projects include Madame Xanadu for Vertigo, with artist Amy Reeder Hadley.[1]
He has also produced numerous comics covers, including painted ones for Green Arrow.
He is currently writing a Green Hornet spin-off (one of several) for Dynamite Entertainment.
Personal life
Wagner currently resides in Portland, Oregon with his wife Barbara Schutz (Diana Schutz's sister) and their two children.[citation needed]
