Electoral division of Mersey

The Electoral division of Mersey is one of the fifteen constituencies in the Tasmanian Legislative Council. The division covers only a small area of 228 km².

The division has 22,531 enrolled voters.

Mersey is named after the Mersey river that flows through Devonport.

The electorate of Mersey includes part of Latrobe and the city of Devonport. The localities of Spreyton, Turners beach and Forth.

Traditionally the electorate has been conservative. Its current member of parliament is independent Norma Jamieson.

The next election for Mersey is due in 2009, the last being in 2003.
