Calgary Mennonite Center for Newcomers

The Calgary Mennonite Centre for Newcomers (CMCN) was established in 1988 as a non-profit organization devoted to assist refugees and immigrants arriving in Calgary in meeting their settlement needs. The organization has been guided by the Christian principles of compassion, fairness and equity, and its goal is to facilitate and strengthen newcomers entering into Canadian society.

CMCN is a member of the Canadian Council for Refugees, the Alberta Association of Immigrant Serving Agencies, the Calgary Inter-Agency Immigrant Services Network and the Calgary-based Coalition for Equal Access to Education. It is affiliated with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) Alberta, and with other immigrant and refugee service agencies in Canada, including: Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers, Maison d'Amite, Montreal, Mennonite Coalition for Refugee Support, Kitchener, New Life Centre, Toronto.

CMCN services are available to clients at no cost, and are financially supported by private donations, grants, and service contracts with the following agencies and departments:Alberta Human Resources and Employment, Alberta Learning, Calgary Community Adult Learning Association, Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Family and Community Support Services, City of Calgary, Human Resources Development Canada, Mennonite Central Committee Alberta, United Way of Calgary and Area.
