Partha Chatterjee is an internationally renowned
Subaltern Studies andPostcolonial scholar. He is a multi-disciplinary scholar, with special emphasis onpolitical science ,anthropology andhistory .He completed a B.A. (Hons.) in Political Science at
Presidency College, Calcutta and a Ph.D. at theUniversity of Rochester .He is a professor of Political Science and was the Director of the
Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta and is presently a Professor ofAnthropology atColumbia University inNew York . He also takes regular classes on a part-time basis in bothCalcutta University andJadavpur University . He was also a Founder-Member of theSubaltern Studies Collective . He is also aJoint -Editor of "Baromash", a biannual Bengali literary journal published from Calcutta.He has published poems in Bengali and is a well-known playwrite and actor on the Calcutta stage. He has appeared in the 2007
Mira Nair film, The Namesake, based upon the novelThe Namesake byJhumpa Lahiri . He is credited as a 'Reformed Hindu' in the film.Publications
