King Mulu Traditional Chinese 木鹿大王 Simplified Chinese 木鹿大王 Transcriptions King Mulu is a fictional character in Luo Guanzhong's historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. He was a vassal under the Nanman chieftain Meng Huo, and was the lord of the Bana Cave (八納洞). Mulu appeared in the chapter about Zhuge Liang's southern campaign to suppress the Nanman rebellion. He was known to possess the magical ability to control the weather and direct wild animals into battle. His army initially defeated the Shu Han forces but was eventually overcome, when his animals were scared away by Zhuge Liang's flame-spewing wooden beasts. The elephant that Mulu was riding on threw him off its back in fright and trampled him to death.
