- George Marsden
George Marsden is an
historian who has written extensively on the interaction betweenChristianity and American culture, particularly on Christianity in Americanhigher education and on AmericanEvangelicalism .Marsden holds a
B.A. fromHaverford College (1959), aB.D. fromWestminster Theological Seminary (1963), and anM.A. (1960) andPh.D. (1965) fromYale University . He has taught atCalvin College (1965–1986) andDuke University (1986–1992), and currently he is the Francis A. McAnaney Professor of History at theUniversity of Notre Dame . He has also beenvisiting professor at theUniversity of California at Berkeley andSt. Andrews University in Scotland. In response to Marsden's impending retirement, Notre Dame hiredMark Noll to replace him.
