George Thorpe (1781 – 11 May 1847) was a Nottingham cricketer who, at forty-five, played one first-class match against a combined eleven of Sheffield and Leicester in 1826. It was his last match for the town. Tom Marsden hit up an unprecedented 227, routing the neophytes by an innings and 203 runs.
With Joseph Dennis and Peter Bramley, Thorpe was one of three tavern keepers in the team, his being the Eagle Tavern in Garners Hill. "Honest" George did not represent Nottingham until 1815. His chief fielding position was long-stop.
