Lamego on 3 January,1961, better known as Álvaro, is a former football association player who played forAcadémica Coimbra OAF ,SL Benfica andEstrela da Amadora . He won several Portuguese titles of National Champion and theCup of Portugal while playing for Benfica.He was capped 20 times for the
Portuguese national football team , from 16 December 1981, in a 2-5 defeat at the hands of Bulgaria, to 16 November 1988, in a 0-0 draw against Sweden. Álvaro played in the Euro '84 finals and the World Cup 1986 finals. He left Benfica at the end of the 1989/90, and finished his playing career in 1993. He has been, since then, a football manager, notably assistant manager toGiovanni Trapattoni when Benfica won theSuperliga in 2004-05.Mr. Magalhães was born withpolydactylism and was nicknamed the "seis dedos" (six fingers). As of august 2008, he coaches RomanianLiga I teamFC Gloria Buzău .Honours
