Erik Balkey

Erik Balkey is a touring singer-songwriter. Accompanying himself on the acoustic guitar, his music is for the most part soft and personal, with many ballads, often in a narrative or story-telling style. Balkey is unsigned to any record label, but publishes his own CDs for sale at his performances and on his website. His most recent CD is titled Deadpan Alley. His song "God's Poet Now" peaked at No. 6 as one of the most played folk songs on the radio in July 2003. Erik Balkey's "While the Paint Dries", which came out in September 2004, features over a dozen songwriting competitions including Kerrville New Folk Finalist (TX.)Erik's "Negotiations & Compromise" performance features an agile voice and thoughtful lyrics accompanied by sparse and deliberate acoustic guitarwork. The Two River Times has said, "He's definitely got something going on... it's his simple, raw nerve, emotional honesty. Erik Balkey shines!"Fact|date=August 2008 Balkey's "My Sacred Heart" is an engaging mix of honesty, intimacy and humor. Balkey was named a Kerrville New Folk winner in 2005 and was selected for a Top-12 DIY feature in the January 2006 issue of Performing Songwriter magazine. Erik's latest cd "Deadpan Alley" contains 10 originals, and has many hits.
